Sustainable fisheries
and MSC certificate

It is essential for us to be able to trace the origins of fish and shellfish and ensure that catching is conducted in accordance with applicable sustainability regulations, both in terms of fishing methods and the quantity of fish species caught.

In line with this, we also offer MSC-certified products. The MSC certificate is developed by the independent organization, the Marine Stewardship Council, to ensure traceability and sustainable fishing practices.

The MSC Program aligns with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Guidelines for the Ecolabelling of Fish and Fishery Products from Marine Capture Fisheries.

Responsible farming
and ASC certificate

For our farmed seafood products, traceability and responsible farming and -production are crucial to us.

In line with this, we offer ASC-certified products.

The ASC-certificate is developed by Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) to ensure environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

Systematic own-check using HACCP

Food safety during production is our top priority.

To achieve high food safety standards, we have established food safety systems as part of our own-check process at all our factories, based on the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).

Fishermens Factory
is FSSC 22000 certified

Fish and shellfish require significant attention to food safety, which is why we have further enhanced our food safety system at our Norway lobster factory, Fishermens Factory, incorporating the principles of FSSC 22000, in which we are also certified.

FSSC22000 stands for Food Safety System Certification and builds upon ISO 22000 and ISO 22002.

The standards are recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

Our new factory for processing of Norway lobsters, roundfish and flatfish, Filetfabrikken Hanstholm 2, is currently under approval for FSSC 22000 certification.

IFS certification

The IFS (International Food Standard) is developed by the German retail federation – Handelsverband Deutschland (HDE) – and its French counterpart – Fédération des Entreprises du Commerce et de la Distribution (FCD) to help ensure that retailers and consumers can trust the products are safe and of good quality.

Seawell Hirtshals is IFS Food certified

To ensure transparency and trust for our customers, the two factories in Seawell Hirtshals, producing salmon products, are both IFS Food certified.

The IFS Food Standard reviews the products and production processes to evaluate a food producer’s ability to produce safe, authentic, and quality products according to legal requirements and customer specifications.

Seawell Fresh is IFS Broker certified.

The IFS Broker is a standard for Trade Agencies’, Importers’ and Brokers’ service compliance in relation to ensure product quality and safety as well as comparability and transparency throughout the entire supply chain.
