Sunday, 7 September marked a historic day for one of Denmark’s smaller fishing harbours, Bønnerup Harbour, and a positive day for Seawell and Fishermens Factory.
The vessels HM 281 Mercy, HM 126 Lilleholm and E 517 Emil landed a total of 9.5 tons of Norway lobster for Fishermens Factory following successful fishing in the Kattegat.
According to Bønnerup Harbour, this is the largest landing ever in the harbour, and the locals in Bønnerup demonstrated an exceptional level of service and helpfulness, assisting with unloading and other practical support.
“They were incredibly kind, and their goodwill is truly extraordinary. They are fighting for their harbour. There was nothing they wouldn’t do – we just had to show up, and they were ready to help,” says fisherman Henrik Bloch, co-owner of HM 281 Mercy, to the Danish fisheries publication, Fiskeri Tidende.
The entire 9.5 tons of Norway lobster were immediately transported to Hanstholm and delivered directly to our Norway lobster facility, Fishermens Factory. Production began early Monday morning, where the catch was hand sorted, packed for the fresh market, and processed for our frozen inventory.
We look forward to using Bønnerup Harbour in the future and value good catches like this and the close cooperation within the Danish fishing industry. It benefits both Danish fishing harbours, fishermen, our company, and ultimately our customers, who get access to premium raw materials.
